In the show by Maix Mayer Galerie EIGEN+ART will present his latest work „Hanoi“, a series of photographic and film works on the „ideal“ city Halle-Neustadt.
He therefore uses still photographs with sound tracks of the film „Hanoi“ that is still to come into being.
The city as operator and as venue plays a major part in film and cinema.
In the same dimension the film intrudes the apperception of tectonic structures and urban development concepts through its use of cuts and POVs.
For this exhibition image/sound configurations are generated at the territory of Halle-Neustadt that reflects the city as space and location and not only as a bare stage, set in scene for common sociological questionings.
The visitor may explore, that one can analyse the filmed city also as a reality: the city is not on the back but right on the screen.
To say it with a slightly modified quotation of Mark Wigley:
„The city is a metaphor for what comes before the city“.
„Hanoi“ is a test arrangement of the pair of terms art/architecture and film/architecture, with which Maix Mayer deals since the middle of the 90ies.
Maix Mayer has carried of the national contest “Sport und Kunst“ in the category graphic/painting with his work „matrix“.
He herewith represents Germany at the current international contest by the IOC in Lausanne, CH.
